Australian Government releases the Web Accessibility National Transition Strategy
It is our pleasure to announce that the Australian Government Web Accessibility National Transition Strategy (NTS) was released today by the Minister for Finance and Deregulation, the Honourable Lindsay Tanner, MP and Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children’s Services, the Honourable Bill Shorten, MP.
You are no doubt already aware that web accessibility has been a government priority for a number of years and the government endorsement and adoption of WCAG 2.0 will ensure that government websites are more accessible and more user-friendly to everyone. Read more

Consultation Draft RFT: Data Centre Facilities
I’m Kayelle Wiltshire, Assistant Secretary of the Central Facilities Branch in AGIMO. I will be implementing the Australian Government Data Centre Strategy announced by Minister Tanner on 22 March 2010.
To implement the Strategy I have started a program of activities. A key activity will be to establish a panel of suppliers capable of providing data centre facilities to the Australian Government. The panel of suppliers will be selected based on their responses to a future Request for Tender (RFT) to join a Panel for the Provision of Data Centre Facilities. Read more

Your comments on the TOMS Draft RFT
I’d like to thank all contributors to this blog and those who emailed me directly. As this was my first experience in engaging in this way, I have appreciated the feedback on the content, format and process for the RFT. It has provided fresh ideas and suggested areas that we need to review to ensure that our tender documents are easy to understand.
Craig, Joanne, Nigel and Michael have raised several interesting ideas on how to improve tendering. Of course, this wasn’t really what we had in mind when we launched this particular post but we will look at these ideas with our colleagues in the procurement policy area within Finance. Read more
