On 17 March 2009, some 20 months ago, an article appeared on a web news site alleging that the Australian Government had added Wikileaks to its list of prohibited online content. Wikileaks had published a purported copy of the list however, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) made it clear at the time that the published list was not accurate. Read more

Independent review of the ICT reform program released

The review was undertaken by Dr Ian Reinecke, former head of the National E-Health Transition Authority, member of the Government 2.0 Taskforce and an experienced advisor to Australian Governments on ICT projects. Open data and data.gov.au
A crucial part of the Government 2.0 Taskforce report, the Australian Government’s response to the Taskforce and the Government’s subsequent Declaration of Open Government was a focus on releasing more government data, subject to privacy, security and other relevant concerns. The aim of this process is to enable greater public access to taxpayer-funded data in useful formats and under open licences so that it can be reused for other, potentially valuable purposes.
