Taming Twitter Terrorism: Combating the Asymmetry of Social Media
This morning I am presenting at a conference entitled “Integrating Online Services with your existing Community Engagement Strategy”. It’s quite a mouthful and not necessarily the sort of thing that might readily attract the attention of Gov 2.0 aficionados. My keynote is described as “Reaching the people: Where are they?” The sub-titled questions are “The untapped potential of the online sphere” and “Social media as the new frontier of citizen”. They’re a bit of a mouthful too. While paying appropriate respect to the conference organisers, I’ve tried to use a title that might provoke a bit more interest. In the attached speech and presentation, I compare social media to counter-insurgency warfare. This isn’t intended to trivialise either subject but, rather, to indicate that things in our past experience can often provide pointers as to how to deal with things we might encounter in the future. Winner of 2011 ICT Young Professional of the Year Award announced
Last night I was delighted to attend the Australian Computer Society’s (ACS) Young ICT Professionals Conference gala dinner to present the Australian Government’s ICT Young Professional of the Year Award for 2011.

Women in IT Executive Mentoring Program launched today
This morning I attended the launch of the Women in IT Executive Mentoring WITEM12 Program, the fifth to be held in Canberra for the Australian Government.
The WITEM program provides female Executive Level 2 ICT professionals in the Australian Public Service (APS) with access to career development guidance and proven leadership skills through a mentor relationship with a senior ICT professional. Since 2007, the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) has partnered with Dell to deliver the WITEM program. Read more

Data Centre Program Update
Since the Australian Government Data Centre Strategy 2010-25 was announced in March 2010, the Data Centre Migration Services Panel and Data Centre Facilities panel have been established.
