Open Source Developers Conference

Last Friday I presented a key note address at the Open Source Developers Conference at the Australian National University in Canberra. My talk covered the Australian Government Open Source Policy, and also provided some background on other AGIMO programs, and a brief overview of the international landscape in regard to Open Source. Publication: Guide to Open Source Software

Back in March, Glenn Archer asked for feedback on the draft Guide to Open Source Software.  I was very pleased with the response.

Thank you to everybody who provided feedback.

We have made some changes to the guide as a result of feedback including:

  • Clarifying the focus of the guide
  • Where appropriate, providing linkages between AGIMO and other government documents as well as to other open source software products.
  • Highlighting the Guide to ICT Sourcing and the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines in the document as it contains Australian Government information on procurement processes.

Government Moves to Actively Consider the Greater Use of Open Source Software
